The police tactical unit shot a man in self-defense during the operation. He pulled out knives at them and attacked.

He was holding knives. Two support units also arrived at the scene, but they were unsuccessful because the man did not react to them at all. According to AKTU.cz, when the tactical unit intervened, the man ran towards them wielding two knives and began attacking.

The tactical unit police then used a taser and a firearm against the man. According to AKTU.cz, the suspect was shot in the leg and chest. The man immediately stopped his attack, and members of the tactical unit began performing resuscitation and giving him first aid. After several tens of minutes of resuscitation, it was no longer possible to save him, and he died.

Detectives from the first department also arrived at the scene, and they will likely initiate criminal proceedings for the attempted murder of a police officer. However, due to the suspect's death, that will be postponed.

The General Inspection of the Security Corps will then review the police intervention, which, based on initial indications, appears to have been proper and justified.
