NCOZ Raid! Motol's director, Ludvík, has been detained, and his car has been seized.
© AKTU.cz, Jiří Forman On Monday morning, the police launched an extensive operation at Prague's Motol University Hospital and 45 other locations, including the home of the longtime hospital director, Miloslav Ludvík. The operation was carried out by the National Centre Against Organized Crime (NCOZ) under the supervision of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).
The reason was suspicious construction contracts valued at over four billion crowns, which also included the renovation of the Blue Pavilion. The police charged 16 individuals, including Ludvík, his deputy Pavel Budinský, and lawyer Miroslav Jansta, with bribery, money laundering, and harming the financial interests of the EU.
The police sealed off the director’s office and even guarded it until the late hours of the night.
Searches were also conducted at Ludvík’s Prague villa, where police officers, lawyers, and customs agents took turns. Investigators employed a specially trained dog to locate money, and customs officers brought in a specialized vehicle equipped with slit cameras.
According to police documents, conspiracy meetings were uncovered between Ludvík, Budinský, and other actors, with bribes allegedly reaching millions. The scheme involved purported money transfers abroad. The police also seized Ludvík’s luxurious Audi A8.
Health Minister Vlastimil Válek immediately dismissed Ludvík from his position. A representative from the Ministry of Health later delivered the dismissal notice to him during the home search.
Acting management of the hospital was entrusted to deputy Lucie Valentová-Bartáková.
Around 10 p.m., Ludvík, accompanied by NCOZ officers, got into a police car from his garage, which then took him for questioning to Dlážděná Street.
At 2 a.m., the vehicle with him left, likely taking him to the temporary detention cell. Officers also brought other suspects to the NCOZ station on Dlážděná Street, and their interrogations will continue into the morning.
